About Pigeon Forge Racing Coaster
The Pigeon Forge Racing Coaster bills itself as the first racing mountain coaster, built so riders can go head to head on two side-by-side tracks. Each run is timed, leaderboards track the fastest racers, and finish-line photos capture the moment one rider beats the other. Carts reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour, and the course includes three 360-degree spirals and an 80-foot double helix, all with views of the Smoky Mountains. Riders control their own speed, so families can take it easy or race at full throttle, and the ride is designed for all ages. In the Halloween season the coaster becomes the Haunted Race on Friday and Saturday nights in October and the first weekend of November, with the red and blue tracks relit in purple and green, eerie sounds, special effects and costumed scare actors from 5 p.m. until close. Group packages are available, and the website offers a webcam and a photo finder. The coaster is located in the Conner Heights area just off the Parkway in Pigeon Forge.
