About Rocky Top Mountain Coaster

Rocky Top Mountain Coaster on Veterans Boulevard describes itself as the longest coaster in East Tennessee and the first mountain coaster in the world with four uplifts. The ride winds across more than 20 acres with Smoky Mountain scenery, 360-degree turns and several tunnels. Each single sled can reach up to 30 miles per hour, and the driver controls the speed for a ride that lasts more than nine minutes. After dark, lights guide riders along the track for a different experience from a daytime run. The coaster is open daily from morning until late evening. Riders must be at least 3 years old and 38 inches tall, and anyone under 56 inches must ride with an adult, so the ride works for a wide range of ages. Rocky Top also sells combination passes with its sister properties nearby: the Smoky Mountain Double Coaster Combo adds a ride on the Wild Stallion Mountain Coaster, and the Park Hopper Pass adds an arm band at Rowdy Bear’s Fun Park. Seasonal events such as a zombie-themed ride have been offered too.
