Pigeon Forge Winterfest: Driving Tour, Walking Trail and Christmas Village

Last updated: October 17, 2026

Winterfest is when Pigeon Forge covers the town in Christmas lights, more than six million of them. This season it runs from November 6, 2026 through January 31, 2027, according to the Pigeon Forge tourism office. Most of it is free, and you can see a lot of it in one evening.

Winterfest Driving Tour of Lights

The driving tour is simply the Parkway. Light displays line the road through town, with Smoky Mountain wildlife and giant ornaments along the way. Just drive it after dark. Traffic is slowest on weekends and the weeks around Christmas, so a weeknight is easier if you can swing it.

Wonders of Light Walking Trail

The walking trail follows the Riverwalk path along the river and has more than 45 nature-themed light displays. It is free, and it is both pet friendly and wheelchair friendly. Bring a stroller if you have little ones, the path is paved.

Winterfest Christmas Village

Right next to the walking trail is the Christmas Village, a holiday market with local makers selling handmade gifts, plus treats and warm drinks. It is a good spot to stop in the middle of your walk and warm up.

An easy Winterfest evening

  • Drive the Parkway lights first, while everyone else is still at dinner.
  • Park and walk the Wonders of Light trail on the Riverwalk.
  • Finish at the Christmas Village for hot chocolate and a little shopping.
  • Coming from Gatlinburg, take the Spur north into Pigeon Forge and the lights start as soon as you reach the Parkway.
