About The Peddler Restaurant Gatlinburg

The Peddler Steakhouse is a long-running Gatlinburg restaurant on River Road, set in a log home on the banks of the Little Pigeon River. The building was built in 1958 as the home of Charles “Earl” Ogle Sr., a fourth-generation Gatlinburg merchant, and his wife, Beth. It was renovated and opened as The Peddler in 1976.

Geoffrey Wolpert, who came to Gatlinburg as a management trainee in 1978, became general manager in 1979 and acquired the restaurant in 1985; he also opened The Park Grill in 1995. The Peddler is known for Certified Angus Beef steaks, custom cut and grilled over Tennessee hickory charcoal, along with a generous salad bar, desserts and a wine list. Many tables look out over the mountain stream, and the restaurant even streams a river cam on its website. Families return year after year, making it a Gatlinburg dining tradition.
