About Parrot Mountain and Gardens
Parrot Mountain and Gardens is a walk-through bird park and garden at 1471 McCarter Hollow Road in Pigeon Forge, next to Dollywood and Splash Country. Hundreds of tropical birds live among thousands of flowers and trees on four acres, and many of the birds sit on open perches where you can feed them by hand.

Walking the gardens
Paved paths lined with field stone lead past a row of parrot cottages, each with a different kind of roof, from slate and clay tile to water reed and cedar shake. Behind a little yellow door is the Secret Garden, where toucans, hornbills and magpies fly free over your head. Next comes the bird garden, with about 70 birds on open perches. You can feed them seed from your hand and have your picture made with them.
In the lory aviary you hold a cup of nectar and the lories come to you. Farther on, the path passes a waterfall with butterfly, dragonfly and peacock benches, then the baby bird nursery, where you can pet the babies and watch them being hand-fed. Birds are for sale there, and the staff will show you how to care for one and can even ship it.
The gardens sit under hundreds of hardwood trees, so fall brings a lot of color. Bible verses are posted along the trails, and at the back is a prayer garden with a manger scene and a seven-foot statue of the resurrected Christ.
Season, hours and admission
Parrot Mountain opened its 2026 season on February 28. It is open daily, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March through October and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in November and December. In December it won’t open if it is very cold or snowing, so call first. It closes on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. A lot of the park is under cover, and the owners say the birds love the rain.
Admission on the official site in October 2026 was $29.95 for ages 11 and up, $27.95 for seniors 65 and up and $19.95 for kids 2 to 10. Children under 2 are free, and groups of 35 or more get a lower rate with a reservation. Prices can change, so check the Parrot Mountain website for the latest. Tickets can be bought online.
Food and gifts
The deli has sandwiches, hot dogs and chili dogs, a meatball sub, pizza and soft serve ice cream, and you can eat on the deck overlooking the gardens and the mountains. The gift shop is in an English-style cottage and carries garden and bird items.
Nearby
