Webcams in the Smokies
These are live cameras you can pull up before you head out, to check the weather or see whether there’s snow up high. Conditions in the mountains can be very different from what you see in town, so a quick look can save you a wasted drive.

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge Webcams
Gatlinburg Space Needle
The camera on top of the Space Needle looks over downtown Gatlinburg and the Parkway, which makes it the easiest way to see how busy town is right now. Watch the Space Needle cam
Anakeesta’s AnaVista Tower
Anakeesta’s cameras sit on the mountaintop above downtown Gatlinburg and give a 360-degree view of the Smokies around town. Watch the Anakeesta cams
Ober Gatlinburg
Ober Gatlinburg posts live views of its ski slopes and mountaintop area. In winter this is the quickest way to see whether there is snow on the slopes before you drive up. Watch the Ober Gatlinburg cams
National Park Webcams
The National Park Service runs several cameras inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The pictures update about every 15 minutes, and where it’s available the page also shows hourly air quality and weather readings. The park’s webcam page includes Kuwohi (formerly Clingmans Dome), Newfound Gap, Purchase Knob and Look Rock. Newfound Gap is the one to check before driving Newfound Gap Road over the mountain, since snow and ice can close it in winter while it’s just raining in Gatlinburg. See the national park webcams
Frequently Asked Questions
Do these webcams work all year?
Yes. The cameras run year-round, though one can go offline for a while for maintenance or bad weather.
Is there a webcam that shows wildlife?
Not really. These cameras are set up for scenic views and town, so you would only see an animal by luck. For wildlife, Cades Cove early in the morning or late in the afternoon is a much better bet than any camera.
Which camera should I check for road conditions?
Use the Newfound Gap camera on the national park page before driving over the mountain toward Cherokee, and check the park’s road status updates too. For downtown Gatlinburg traffic, the Space Needle camera is the best quick look.
