Gatlinburg Attraction
About Ober Gatlinburg
Ober Gatlinburg is a year-round mountaintop adventure park and Tennessee’s only ski area, set high above downtown Gatlinburg. Many visitors start with a ride on the Gatlinburg Tram, which climbs from the Parkway up the mountain. At the top, more than a dozen activities change with the seasons. In the warmer months, roughly April through October, guests can ride the Smoky Mountain Bobsled down the mountainside, fly on the Cloud Catcher zip line and the Tennessee Flyer, and try summer tubing, rock climbing, archery and downhill mountain biking. Indoor ice skating, ice bumper cars, a carousel and the wildlife habitat give families things to do in any weather. In winter, Ober offers skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. The park also hosts seasonal events such as its fall Oktoberfest. Many activities are bundled into an Adventure Pass, so check Ober’s website for current tickets and seasonal schedules before you go.

What to expect
Ober sits high above downtown Gatlinburg and is open all year. In winter it is the only ski area in Tennessee, with skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. The rest of the year it runs as an adventure park with more than a dozen attractions, including the Cloud Catcher zip line, the Smoky Mountain Bobsled and the Tennessee Flyer, plus ice skating and ice bumper cars.
Most people ride up on the Gatlinburg Tram from downtown. The tram station is at 1001 Parkway, at Parkway and LeConte Street between traffic lights #8 and #10. Ober lists 314 Cottage Drive as the parking lot address near the tram.
Winter
Season passes for 2026-27 are on sale, and this year Ober added a Night Season Pass good for the last four hours of any winter operating day. The snow tubing hill is 350 feet long with a 50-foot drop. Slots are limited, so book tubing ahead, and there is Cosmic Tubing at night.
Fall
Ober tracks the leaves on its Color Meter. For 2026 it expected peak color between October 21 and the first few days of November. Oktoberfest at Ober is October 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Food
Slope Side does quick bites, Alpine Slice Co. has pizza and Fiddle & Pick serves house-smoked barbecue. There is also the Sugar Shack for sweets.
Tips
- Ober says its warmer-weather season is usually April to October and its colder season November to March. Check what is running before you go, since some attractions are seasonal.
- It is a lot colder at the top than downtown, so bring a jacket even when Gatlinburg feels warm.
